Medecins du Monde Turkey (MDM-T) / Dünya Doktorları Dernegi (DDD) is a Turkish based humanitarian non-governmental organisation that facilitates access to healthcare for populations affected by armed conflict, violence, natural disasters, disease, famine, poverty and exclusion.

Our organization collaborates with partners and key stakeholders to implement projects that facilitate access to primary and secondary-level healthcare services to respond to the medical needs of displaced population.

 Hierarchical & Functional Links

Based in Syria Idlib, the CHW manager is under the line management of the Programme Medical Manager. S/he will technically lead and supervise the community health workers in all clinics.

S/he will closely coordinate with Team Leaders, MHPSS supervisor and other Management Staff to ensure CHW component is implemented in a proper and effective wayStatus: Fixed-Term Contract

EXPECTED PROFILE

Knowledge & Qualification

·  Bachelor’s  degree in medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, or a directly related clinical field.

Experience

·  A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in community health or primary healthcare.

·  Proven experience in supervision and team leadership, preferably with field teams (e.g.,

· Community health workers, nurses, health educators).

· Experience in direct work with local communities

Languages

·     Required: Fluent English and Arabic (oral and written).

General Qualities Required:

·     Strong organizational and communication skills are mandatory.

·     Committed, with an ability to take initiative and work autonomously.

·     Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

·     Diplomatic and presentation skills.

·     Familiar with multicultural environment

·     Good proficiency with Microsoft package

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

·     Direct technical supervision and line management of All CHWs

·     M&E

·     External coordination and community participation

·     Reporting

·       Other related tasks

1.1  Writing Direct technical supervision and line management of All CHWs

 

· Support in development of action plan and strategy for outreach activity (CHWs), with technical input from medical and MHPSS departments

· provide technical support and facilitate trainings for CHWs, including on key data collection tools and tasks

·     ensure implementation of health-focused needs assessments, assess health seeking behaviours, access issues to health care and health priorities in each community and identify relevant messages accordingly with the support of team leaders and technical managers

·  identify effective community-based health promotion and education tools/methodology to be used by CHWs (including through home visits, group awareness raising, etc.)

·   Liaise with team leaders on a regular basis to ensure links between CHWs and DDD clinics

·  support CHW development and implement daily/weekly/monthly workplans in line with identified priorities and strategy with technical staff and team leaders

· with CME Manager, follow up on capacity building needs of CHWs and implement adequate training plan in line with outreach strategy and ensure performance monitoring

·  ensure technical preparedness for the CHWs field visits and group sessions, including accompany CHWs during home visits and other outreach activities to provide on-the-job coaching, supervision and support

·     organize regular supervision and debriefing sessions with CHWs and Team Leaders, including Weekly meeting to discuss the achievements and challenges which faced the team and how to resolve them and to gathering the team records and activities which been done the previous period and input them in database. At the end of each meeting, discuss health topics with CHWs. 

· ensure close CHW performance monitoring and evaluation through regular field visit and CHWs performance evaluation

· ensure continuous coordination between medical and MHPSS departments, act as key focal point for all staff involved in the quality implementation of the CHW activities (including Field Coordinator, Programme Medical Manager, MHPSS Supervisor, team leaders, Field Manager, HR Manager and Logistics Manager)

1.2  M&E

·       With support from MEAL department, develop monitoring system for CHW activity (indicators, targets, etc.) to monitor the effectiveness and quality of outreach activity

·       Collect and analyze data/information related to CHWs activities

·       Follow up on evaluation of effectiveness of outreach activity and follow up on recommendations from evaluation

 

1.3  External coordination and community participation

·       Liaison with other actors in the field also providing outreach/CHW activity, support team to identify different stakeholders and ensure proper service mapping and well established referral system.

·       ensure communities are engaged in designing the community outreach activities

·       When requested by line manager or Field Coordinator, attend the health committees as an observer to better understand the needs and offer medical answers/explanations when needed

 1.4  Reporting

·       Ensure monthly reporting on CHW activities (or weekly if needed)

·       Provide regular reporting on your activities to your Line-Manager upon his/her solicitation

·       Provide a mission report and/or handover document at the end of contract.

 

1.5  Other Tasks

·       Participates in the team meeting

·       Design or support in the design of health material to be developed and adapt them to the concerned community with the support of medical coordinator.

·       Any other related DDD tasks as assigned by supervisor/line manager.
